CRAIG, Colo.—A lightning strike fire has burned more than 26,000 acres in northwestern Colorado.
The Bureau of Land Management said Tuesday that 75 firefighters were working the blaze on private and BLM land, about 32 miles northwest of Craig.
There have been no reports of damage to the 30 gas wells in the area.
The BLM says the 4,900-acre has been contained. Firefighters are mopping up and patrolling the fire, 23 miles northwest of Craig.
Fire crews from a number of government agencies have been working the 24 new fires reported since Sunday.
