RULISON, Colo.—Garfield County authorities are investigating a natural gas explosion that occurred early Wednesday at a western Colorado rig site.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Tanny McGinnis says there were no injuries and the fire is likely to burn for several hours.
McGinnis says it appears to be an industrial accident but the cause is under investigation.
The rig is east of Rulison along Interstate 70 about 150 miles west of Denver in the heart of Colorado’s energy boom.
