AURORA, Colo.—Mark Pifher has been promoted to director of Aurora Water, the state’s third-largest water utility.
Pifher had been deputy director. His promotion was announced late last week and became effective immediately.
He replaces Peter Binney, who left in March to join an engineering, consulting and construction company in Overland Park, Kan.
Pifher started at Aurora Water in 2005. He previously served as director of the Colorado Water Quality Control Division.
Aurora, an east Denver suburb, has more than 308,000 people. Its water utility has 70,000 taps, 415 employees and an annual operating budget of $109 million.
Only Denver Water and Colorado Springs Utilities are larger.
