ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Quarterback Lance Parker threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns to lead Ouachita Baptist to a 58-7 victory Saturday over Fort Lewis College in its season opener.

Parker, a senior from Bryant, completed 18 of his 27 passes during a game that saw the Tigers score 58 unanswered points from near the end of the first quarter on. Senior wide receiver Julius Pruitt scored two touchdowns, both off of 25-yard passes from Parker.

Fort Lewis (1-1) scored first in the game off a 32-yard carry by junior running back Joel Johnson. But the Skyhawks struggled through the remainder of the game. In the third quarter, a Fort Lewis fumble on the goal line was recovered for a touchdown by Tigers junior Jeremy Young.

The Tigers dominated the ground game, rushing 230 yards on 43 attempts. Fort Lewis managed to gain only 34 yards on 25 attempts.

Skyhawks quarterback Dave Nieman connected on 10 of his 21 passes for 75 yards and one interception. Quarterback Justin Peters made six of his 14 passes for 66 yards and an interception.

Ouachita Baptist (1-0) next plays West Georgia at home Sept. 13. The Skyhawks face CSU-Pueblo at home Sept. 13.
