AURORA, Colo.—A judge has raised the bond to $250,000 for a man accused in a hit-and-run crash that killed three people in Aurora.

Twenty-three-year-old Francis Hernandez appeared in an Arapahoe County courtroom Monday to be advised that he is being held on three counts of vehicular homicide, reckless driving, and hit and run.

Aurora police say Hernandez was the driver of an SUV that crashed into a pickup and shoved it into a Baskin Robbins ice cream shop last Thursday. Two women in the pickup died instantly, and a toddler in the store died later at a hospital.

Defense attorney Kallman Elinoff says Hernandez is distraught over the deaths.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have issued a hold for Hernandez, who will be formally charged on Thursday.
