The NFL on Tuesday named Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall its AFC offensive player o the week, the first such award of his three-year career.
Marshall’s 18 catches Sunday in a 39-38 victory over San Diego set a team record for receptions in a game and was two catches shy of the NFL record.
His reception total in Week 2 was the highest single-game tally since 2000 and was twice as many as the next-nearest receiver this weekend.
Marshall is the first Denver player to earn the offensive award since 2005, when wide receiver Rod Smith won after a Week 15 victory over Buffalo.
