VAIL, Colo.—An Eagle County man accused of handing his roommate a loaded shotgun that the roommate used to commit suicide has been arrested on a manslaughter charge.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested 19-year-old Jacob Weiss on Monday after the shooting. He was released on Wednesday on $7,500 bail.
No home phone could be located for Weiss, and jail officials did not know whether he had an attorney.
Deputies say the two men were drinking and talking about suicide in an apartment between Vail and Eagle when the 18-year-old roommate killed himself. The victim’s name hasn’t been released.
Colorado law defines assisted suicide as manslaughter.
Weiss also faces charges of reckless endangerment and prohibited use of a firearm.
