MONTROSE, Colo.—Search crews looking for a missing University of Northern Colorado student have discovered a body in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
Park spokeswoman Angie Richman says the body was spotted on Thursday, but the recovery was postponed until Friday.
Searchers found the body below the rim of the canyon at Chasm View Overlook, about 1,820 feet above the Gunnison River.
Crews had been looking for 21-year-old Mark Young Jr., who was reported missing after he failed to show up for class Tuesday at UNC in Greeley.
Young’s father, Mark Young Sr., is a pilot with the Civil Air Patrol. He spotted his son’s vehicle, a 2002 Ford Explorer, in a parking lot at Black Canyon from the air on Thursday.
Richman says the body has not been identified.
