Two men have been arrested in connection with the gunpoint kidnapping of a Fort Collins woman on Wednesday.
The woman, in her mid-40s, had gone to the Foothills Fashion Mall in Fort Collins about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to purchase a gift and was expected home about 8:30 p.m.
At 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, the victim called her husband to report she had been kidnapped while she was returning to her 2008 Lexus SUV in the parking lot of the mall.
The men, who have been arrested for investigation of robbery, kidnapping and auto theft, are two brothers.
Police identified them as Haven Cory Baros, 26, and Xavier Quinn Baros, 21, both of Fort Collins.
According to the victim, the two suspects – both armed with handguns – drove her and her car around and released her in a remote field in Weld County, near the town of Nunn.
The victim walked to a home in Nunn and the family contacted the Weld County Sheriff’s Department. The victim was unharmed and reunited with her family.
At approximately 3 a.m. Thursday, Fort Collins Police spotted the Lexus in the parking lot of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Collins.
Officers staked out the vehicle believing the suspects would return to the SUV.
About 1:30 p.m. Thursday, one of the brothers got into the vehicle and started to drive off. He was surrounded by police and surrendered. A short time later, his brother was arrested.Howard Pankratz: 303-954-1939 or hpankratz@denverpost.com
