The Boulder coroner’s office will perform an autopsy this morning on a 49-year-old bicyclist who was struck by a car and killed yesterday, authorities say.

The accident happened near the intersection of 14th Street and Mapleton Avenue at 6:53 p.m., according to a Boulder Police Department news release.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Boulder Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of family members, according to Boulder County Coroner Thomas Faure.

The Boulder Police Department’s traffic unit is continuing to investigate the accident
