DURANGO, Colo.—An Ignacio man has been convicted of murder in a brutal assault on the Southern Ute Reservation in southwest Colorado.

A federal court jury in Durango on Monday convicted Isaac Headman of first-degree murder, felony murder and kidnapping in the Aug. 23, 2007, death of Clifton Joseph Greany.

The 27-year-old Headman faces life in prison at his Jan. 14 sentencing.

Prosecutors say the 31-year-old Greany had been drinking with Headman and three women when they turned on him, beating him up, putting him in the trunk of a car, driving him to a remote location and then stabbing him to death.

The women pleaded guilty to murder and agreed to testify against Headman. Each is expected to be sentenced to 25 years in prison.
