BOULDER, Colo.—A nearly 120-year-old train depot has finally arrived at its new home in Boulder, but not before the 800,000-pound passenger made an unscheduled stop—in traffic.
City work crews began moving the 4,000-square-foot building Wednesday night to the site of Boulder’s new Transit Village about a mile away. Several obstacles, however, left the depot stalled just a few feet from its former location at 30th and Pearl.
Authorities say portions of both streets were closed for 12 hours before reopening Thursday afternoon.
The obstacles have included a broken truck, trees and power lines.
The city moved the depot from the Crossroad Commons shopping area so it can be redeveloped.
The move was expected to cost about $750,000.
