ASPEN, Colo.—The head of Frontier Airlines says he’s pleased with the business generated by a Denver-to-Aspen service launched in April by subsidiary Lynx Aviation.

Frontier President and CEO Sean Menke said Monday the service has done better than he expected. Menke spoke at an aviation conference in Aspen.

Lynx flew five daily flights during the summer and is now offering four daily flights during what’s called the “shoulder season” before skiing starts.

The service uses a 74-seat turboprop.

The Denver-based airline is working to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, which it entered in April. Frontier has announced layoffs, cuts in its flight schedule and new labor agreements.
