A Greenwood Village teen was shot in the leg Saturday after a handgun was taken out of a safe in a home, authorities said today.
Greenwood Village police said they received a 911 call regarding a shooting inside a home. When they arrived at the residence, officers found three 14-year-old boys in the home, one suffering a wound to his leg.
Officers determined that one of the teens removed a gun from a safe and was showing it to the others when the gun discharged, said investigators.
Lt. Randy Corbitt of the Greenwood Village Police Department, said two of the juveniles were visiting the home when the incident occurred.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Swedish Medical Center. His wound was not life-threatening, said Corbitt.
The case is being investigated to determine whether charges will be filed.
