A business coalition formed to fight three Colorado ballot measures viewed as anti-union, including Amendment 47, Tuesday disclosed more than 80 executives and organizations that have endorsed the effort, including Dish Network chairman Charlie Ergen.
The coalition, called Colorado Businesses for Sensible Solutions, also said it has secured $2.5 million in cash and pledges, including $1.5 million in cash.
The group has pledged to raise $3 million to help campaign against the three measures as part of a deal with organized labor that led to the removal of four union-backed measures from the Nov. 4 ballot. The deadline to reach that target was Friday. After securing about $400,000 Tuesday, business officials said they are confident they will reach their goal.
“We’re talking to people every day,” said Denver lawyer Steve Farber, who also helped raise funds for the Democratic National Convention. “We felt confident during the convention that we’d raise the money we had to raise, and there’s no reason that we shouldn’t feel as confident now.”
