Lockheed Martin recently delivered the backshell for the Mars Science Laboratory to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. The backshell, manufactured at its Denver-area facilities, is half of the two-part aeroshell that will encapsulate and protect the MSL rover during its voyage to Mars. The second half of the aeroshell is still in production.
