GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—One person is dead and three others have been taken to a hospital following a hit-and-run crash in Grand Junction.

Police say the driver of a Ford F150 pickup was passing a Nissan that was attempting to make a left turn when the two vehicles collided about 5:50 p.m. Sunday.

The Nissan driver, 28-year-old Ashley Chapman of Grand Junction, died from multiple injuries at a hospital. Three children inside the car were airlifted to The Children’s Hospital in Aurora, but their conditions are unknown.

Police say the driver of the pickup fled the scene but was located a short time later about a mile away.

Officers booked 25-year-old Brandon Walton into the Mesa County jail on suspicion of DUI, hit-and-run, vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.
