BOULDER, Colo.—Boulder County has hit a record number of registered voters this year with just over 217,400.

The previous record was 217,000 in 2004.

Clerk and Recorder Hillary Hall says the county has about 90,000 registered Democrats, 81,000 unaffiliated voters and 44,300 Republicans.

About 36,000 of the county’s registered voters are between 18 and 24 years old, and 16,000 of those registered for the first time this year.

Hall’s office has already received nearly 20,000 mail-in ballots for the Nov. 4 election.

Boulder is the state’s sixth-largest county by population.
