A motorcyclist killed in an accident Sunday has been identified as Conor P. McMahon, 27, of Boulder.

McMahon was killed trying to pass a car that had stopped to make a turn on Colorado 74, the Colorado State Patrol said in a news release.

The Audi sedan was traveling west and had stopped to make a lefthand turn. The motorcycle was a few cars behind. The motorcycle swung out to pass the other cars and the stopped Audi, then braked hard and started a skid before hitting the back of the Audi, throwing him off.

McMahon, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene.

The female driver of the Audi was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Her passenger, a Lakewood woman also wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries.

The State Patrol said drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors in the accident.
