A missing hiker from Dallas who disappeared Saturday morning while hiking east of Crystal Mountain in Larimer County was found about 1 p.m. Monday.

Jimmy Carter, 76, is “OK and is with relatives,” said Kathleen Messick, spokeswoman for the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.

Carter and his brother were camping in the area for the weekend.

Carter told his brother about 8:30 a.m. Saturday that he was going for a hike and would be back by noon.

When he didn’t return by 6 p.m., his brother called the sheriff’s office to report him missing.

About 30 searchers joined more than two dozen people already on the ground Monday morning.

Among those involved were teams with search dogs and all-terrain vehicles. Howard Pankratz, The Denver Post
