Air Force kicker Ryan Harrison has more than forgotten about the disappointment of three weeks ago when two of his punts were blocked for touchdowns in Navy’s 33-27 victory over the Falcons.

Last Saturday against Nevada-Las Vegas, he came through with three field goals, including a 19-yard game-winner with 2:36 left in the game. Air Force improved to 5-2 and 3-1 in the Mountain West Conference with the 29-28 victory.

Leading up to the winning field goal, freshman quarterback Tim Jefferson led the Falcons on a 17-play, 91-yard drive to get into position for the winning kick.

Their efforts were acknowledged Monday by the Mountain West Conference, Harrison winning the award for special teams player of the week and Jefferson as offensive player of the week.

“Anytime something bad happens like in the Navy game, a kicker has to put it out of his mind,” Harrison said. “You can’t get too high about the big ones or too low about the others.”

Jefferson, making his second start, carried four times and passed twice in Air Force’s 7:03 drive to the winning points. Two of his carries converted third downs, and his passes accounted for a combined 24 yards and a first down.

Harrison leads the Falcons in scoring with 61 points while making 13-of-15 field-goal attempts and all 22 of his extra points heading into Thursday night’s game against New Mexico at Falcon Stadium.

Defensive end Jake Paulson returned to active practice Monday after missing Sunday’s drills with a shoulder injury. Paulson had been listed as indefinite for Thursday’s game.
