GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A Mesa County woman accused of handcuffing her boyfriend’s teenage son to a bannister and denying him and a teenage girl food and bathroom privileges has been sentenced to three years in prison and two years in community corrections.
Kristie Liane Moore previously pleaded guilty to child abuse charges. She told a district judge in Grand Junction on Thursday that she didn’t believe she deserved prison.
District Judge Richard Gurley disagreed, calling the punishment of the children “extraordinary.”
The 34-year-old Moore, and her then-boyfriend, 41-year-old John Wilson, were arrested in April. An arrest affidavit indicates the boy told investigators he was punished for not doing his chores well enough.
Moore was sentenced in August to 10 years probation and two years of work release.
