Everybody’s saying that the “Twilight” series of books is the new “Harry Potter,” and while that may be true, some are waiting to check on the success of the film adaptation of the first book, hitting theaters Nov. 21. The film’s star-packed soundtrack hits stores today featuring music from Linkin Park, Muse, Iron & Wine, Perry Farrell and others.
Andrea Bocelli, “Incanto” (Decca)
Some think of Andrea Bocelli as the poster child of Pop Opera Light. But his widespread appeal is what separates him from the true stars of the opera — he is one of the most famous singers in the world, with multiple platinum albums to his credit. His latest studio CD takes on some of the world’s most famous Italian songs, including “Mamma” and “Santa Lucia.”
Harry Connick Jr., “What a Night! A Christmas Album” (Sony) Of all the artists releasing holiday albums this year, Connick’s makes the most sense. Connick has the voice and the ability to make an old, tired, overplayed song sound new again. So here’s his take on “Holly Jolly Christmas,” “We Three Kings” and some lesser-known tunes.
