DENVER—Hundreds of people are watching election results on big-screen televisions at a Democratic gathering at a downtown Denver hotel.
The mood was festive early Tuesday night as the crowd cheered when victories were projected for Democrat Barack Obama. They also booed when victories were forecast for Republican John McCain.
College student Leo Bongiovanni, 26, and Jessie Miller, 21, joined the gathering to watch the election unfold. Miller says this is the first time she has voted and although she isn’t a Democrat she is a fan of Obama.
