A woman’s parachute failed to open this afternoon while she was attempting to basejump in Clear Creek Canyon.
The accident was called in to search and rescue agencies around 4 p.m. and the accident forced the closure of both westbound and eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 6 into Clear Creek Canyon and Highway 119, said Julie Brooks, a spokeswoman with the Golden Fire Department.
The highway had reopened by 6:45 p.m., the Colorado State Patrol reported.
The woman has not been identified late Saturday.
“She has injuries to her lower extremities,” Julie Brooks said.
The accident occurred near mile marker 265 by Tunnel 2, Brooks said.
