As President-elect Barack Obama picks his transition team, rumors are bubbling that Denver chef Daniel Young could take over the White House kitchen.

However, Young, who was once Carmelo Anthony’s personal chef, hasn’t heard anything from the Obama team. And while former Vice President Al Gore sampled his cooking during the Democratic National Convention, Young denies a report that he cooked for Obama during the DNC. He is excited by a story, which started with a New York Daily News dining column, that puts him on a short list for the job. “I haven’t spoken with anybody; I don’t know if this is media spin that got out of control. If something comes up, I will be extremely pleased, but in the meantime I will continue focusing on my life and keep on working and take it day by day,” said Young, whose latest venture is high-end food service Ultra Events. “I am really just trying to stay the course and focus on my own good effort.” Tom McGhee, The Denver Post
