BRECKENRIDGE, Colo.—The Summit County Sheriff’s office has arrested a man suspected of starting two fires at a Keystone resort.
The sheriff’s office says 23-year-old Matthew Adam Hiner admitted to the crime after investigators found a pair of shoes at his house that matched footprints left at the scene of one of the fires.
Hiner was being held Wednesday at the Summit County jail on $15,000 bail. He faces charges of first-degree arson and second-degree arson. His punishment could be up to 18 years in prison for both charges and fines totaling more than $1 million.
The sheriff’s office says one of the fires was started in a linen closet at the Keystone Lodge and Spa and another in a storage facility across the street on Sunday.
