DENVER—It looks like it was a very good year for a suspected wine thief. For a while, anyway.
Authorities said Friday they seized 85 bottles of suspected stolen wine worth $11,500 from a Denver home. One bottle alone is valued at $3,000.
Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies say a suspect is in custody but they haven’t release his name.
They say he sold $21,000 worth of wine over the Internet in the past three weeks. It’s not clear how much of that, if any, was stolen.
The investigation began after surveillance video at Tipsy’s Liquor Store in the Denver suburb of Littleton showed a man hiding three bottles of wine worth $200 each in his clothes, then buying two $8 bottles and leaving.
The video led to the arrest.
