BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo.—Buckley Air Force Base has detonated six sticks of dynamite because the material had become unstable.
The dynamite had been used to train explosives-sniffing dogs at the base in the east Denver suburb of Aurora.
Lt. Col. Nancy Staats says it was too unstable to ship elsewhere for disposal, so an explosives disposal team from the Colorado Air National Guard detonated it at Buckley.
Capt. Adrianne Michele says the detonation went as planned with no problems.
