Police in Boulder are investigating the possible sexual assault of a woman who was found Tuesday evening and helped by good Samaritans.

Two women found the distressed woman at about 9:30 p.m. near 12th and College streets, Boulder police said in a press release.

The pair helped her home, and her roommates later took her to the hospital, police said.

The 21-year-old victim told investigators she had been sexually assaulted sometime earlier in the evening in the area of Grandview Avenue and Broadway Street.

After further investigation, however, it was unclear where the assault occurred.

The case remains under investigation, and police are especially interested in talking with the women who found her.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Detective Colleen Wilcox at 303-441-3330.

Tips also can be left with Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS(8477) or 800-444-3776.
