Colorado Open Lands will honor noted sportsman and conservationist Tom Swanson with its George E. Cranmer Award for his work in preserving and enhancing Colorado’s natural resources.
Swanson, an Evergreen resident, has been chairman of The Nature Conservancy and was chairman of the State Board of Land Commissioners when it designated 300,000 acres of special lands into the Stewardship Trust. He also has served on the board of the Colorado Conservation Trust and the Mountain Area Land Trust and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
He also sits on the executive committee of Great Outdoors of Colorado and serves as its treasurer.
Swanson will be feted at a 5:30 p.m. awards reception Dec. 1 at the Colorado History Museum. Tickets are available by phoning 303-988-2373.
