Aspen celebrates 40 years of World Cup ski racing with all the accoutrements this Thanksgiving weekend, including U.S. Ski Team stars Lindsey Vonn and Julia Mancuso. The Aspen Winternational on Saturday and Sunday features the world’s fastest women during two days of racing in slalom and giant slalom.

World Cup GS racing gets underway on Aspen Mountain at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, followed by two rounds of slalom at the same times Sunday. In between, U.S. Ski Team members will hold an autograph session in the Aspen Gondola Plaza from 3-4 p.m. A free concert featuring Robert Randolph and the Family Band cranks up at the base of Aspen Mountain at 7 p.m., followed by fireworks.

Race admission also is free, and World Cup lodging specials are available for as low as $90 a night.
