DENVER—A national survey shows average gas prices across the country have dropped to less than $2 a gallon for the first time since March 2005.

The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline at self-serve stations was $1.97 Friday, according to the Lundberg Survey of 5,000 gas stations nationwide — released yesterday.

That’s down 33 cents over the last two weeks.

Meanwhile, AAA says Monday’s national average is $1.908, down almost 18 cents from a week ago.

In Colorado, the average is $1.845. That’s more than 18 cents lower than last week.

The state average is also $1.22 lower than the same time a year ago.
