COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The stepfather of a 4-year-old Widefield girl who was fatally injured in September will stand trial for her death.

El Paso County District Judge David Shakes ruled Wednesday that enough evidence exists to send Tristan Price, 23, to trial on first-degree murder and child abuse charges in the death of Tamyrii “Mimi” Randall.

Shakes made his decision after hearing from El Paso County sheriff’s detectives and from Dr. Sunil Prashar, a forensic pathologist for the county coroner’s office.

An affidavit alleges Price was the only adult in the room with Tamyrii when she was fatally injured Sept. 26.

Detective Ralph Losasso testified that Price tried to wake the girl when he realize she wasn’t breathing by putting her in the shower, and then his father, Michael Price Sr., performed CPR.

The girl was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital.

Prashar said Tamyrii had severe liver damage, a bite mark on her shoulder and recently broken ribs. He said there also was evidence her ribs had been broken before and were healing.

Tristan Price was being held without bond at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center. He is scheduled to enter a plea on Jan. 20.
