ASPEN, Colo.—A 19-year-old Aspen Skiing Co. worker on an overnight shift was seriously injured after his snowmobile crashed into a tree at Snowmass Ski Area.
The company says the man was scheduled to work on a snowmaking crew from midnight to 8 a.m. Friday. A co-worker found the injured worker in the snow around 7 a.m., but it is unknown when the accident happened.
The victim’s name and details of his injuries were not released.
The company says the man had punched in on a time clock but did not sign a company log before leaving for duty. The company says incoming co-workers did not realize he was on the mountain, and co-workers incorrectly assumed he had not shown up for work when he did not answer his mobile phone.
