A Golden doctor has pleaded guilty to writing prescriptions for a narcotic and giving them to an undercover agent who told her he liked the way it made him feel.
Authorities learned that Christine Connolly had prescribed almost 9,000 pills of the painkiller oxycodone, or OxyContin, for a confidential source who was providing information to police.
In September a Drug Enforcement Administration agent joined the source in visiting Connolly. The agent said he wasn’t in pain but wanted a prescription.
“Between September 9 and Nov. 9, 2007, Dr. Connolly authorized the dispensing of over 2,000 pills containing oxycodone for the undercover agent and the confidential source,” according to a release from the First Judicial District Attorney’s office.
Connolly was arrested March 11.
She pleaded guilty Tuesday in Jefferson County Court and was sentenced to one year probation.
District Judge Phil McNulty also ordered Connolly to comply any conditions set by the State of Colorado Medical Board.
