ENGLEWOOD, Colo.—The Denver Broncos re-signed safety Herana-Daze Jones on Wednesday, replacing recently released running back Cory Boyd.

Boyd, who was released earlier in the week, was re-signed to the Broncos’ practice squad. The team also released running back Steve Baylark from its practice squad.

Jones, whose first name is pronounced “Hernandez,” is a third-year safety signed by Denver on Dec. 3. He was inactive for one game and waived a week later. He played in three games with Cincinnati this season before being waived Nov. 4.

Jones, who signed with Cincinnati in 2005 as a college free agent from the University of Indiana, has played in 28 career games and has made 48 career tackles, most of them on special teams.

Boyd is a rookie who signed with the Broncos practice squad Nov. 4. He was promoted to the active roster Dec. 9 but was deactivated on Sunday at Carolina after failing to impress coaches enough with his blitz pickup.

Boyd was a seventh-round draft pick by Tampa Bay out of South Carolina but was waived/injured by the Buccaneers on July 26.
