Three people were slightly injured and taken to a local hospital this morning after one of three cars involved in a collision plowed into the lobby of the Days Inn at 620 Federal Blvd.

Alex Paez, spokesman for the Denver Fire Department, said four engines went to the scene.

Although the lobby does not seem to have been badly damaged, firefighters want to ensure that no structural damage occurred, he said.

Sonny Jackson, spokesman for the Denver Police Department, said that an elderly male driver was southbound on Federal and was attempting to make a turn into the parking lot of the Days Inn when he was hit by two cars headed northbound on Federal.

He said that one of the northbound cars left the road, struck the two pedestrians and then hit the lobby of the motel.

The incident occurred at 9:59 a.m.

Jackson said the injuries received by the elderly driver and the two pedestrians are not life-threatening.

An employee of the Days Inn said that the people struck by the car were guests of the motel who were walking to a nearby bus stop.

She said only one of the two guests seemed to have received any injuries, a man who received scrapes and bruises after he was hit after the vehicle left the street.

She said she sat the man down and with the help of the man’s wife, helped clean up the guest.

She said the man — who appeared to be only slightly injured and shaken up — was taken by ambulance to be checked out at a local hospital.
