A resident at a senior facility awoke this morning to find a man pounding on her patio door seeking help after being attacked nearby, Fort Collins police said.

Police are looking for an assailant in the case, and the 19-year-old victim was treated for injuries at the Poudre Valley Hospital and released, police said in a press release.

The victim, a Fort Collins man, sought assistance at about 5:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Turnberry Road, saying he had been beaten and chased.

Larimer County Sheriff’s Deputies searched the area on foot and found a 1993 Volvo, believed to have been involved in the incident, in a pond on the Fort Collins Country Club. The Larimer County Dive Team was called in to assist with the pulling the Volvo out.

The incident started in Fort Collins and the police department is investigating the case.

Police did not disclose a motive for the assault.
