DENVER—A new fire truck for Delta County and a restored courthouse for Bent County are among state construction projects Gov. Bill Ritter says will begin as part of a jobs effort.

Ritter says he’ll use about $21.5 million in mineral lease revenues for 35 local construction projects. They range from $100,000 for dorm improvement at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling to $2 million for road projects in Brighton.

The grants are handed out every year from severance tax and federal mineral lease revenues. Ritter says the grants are especially needed this year to create jobs during a national recession.
