A man’s body was found about 7:30 this morning at the front gate of a small apartment building at 1465 Wolff St., the apparent victim of a stabbing, Denver police said.
Sonny Jackson, spokesman for the Denver Police Department, said the man had wounds indicating he had been stabbed.
The apartment building is about 75 yards south of West Colfax Avenue and in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by bungalow-style homes.
Jackson said the man was fully clothed, and the body was not frozen.
The body was laying on the sidewalk near the front gate, which is attached to a tall wooden fence. Beyond the fence is a small courtyard.
Jackson said police receive few crime-related calls to the area, which is about a mile west of Invesco Field at Mile High.
“We are investigating this as a homicide,” Jackson said. “We will have to figure out what happened.”
Jackson said officers are canvassing the area to see if neighbors or passersby saw or heard anything.
A passerby alerted police to the body after he saw the person laying in the snow.
Wolff Street has been blocked off by officers.
