GOLDEN, Colo.—A 20-year-old Bennett man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison in a break-in at the home of a couple in Golden in February.
Nicholas Andrew Ray Finney was sentenced Friday. He pleaded guilty in October to attempted first-degree murder and first-degree burglary.
Prosecutors said he broke into a woman’s home and hit her repeatedly around her head with a golf club, causing serious injuries before the woman’s husband heard his wife’s screams and attacked Finney.
Prosecutors say Finney broke away, threatened the couple with a knife, then fled.
Prosecutors say Finney had stolen a car from the area earlier in the day and also took $1,000 from the couple’s home.
