DALLAS — A former Utah state trooper named a suspect in a Dallas-area roadway shooting spree has died.
Brian Smith, 37, died Wednesday night at a Dallas hospital. Police say he shot himself in the head after a brief standoff Tuesday, more than six hours after the roadway shooting rampage ended.
Dallas police said they think Smith was responsible for at least one death in the shootings. They declined to comment on another death in a neighboring city because it was outside their jurisdiction.
