DENVER—State grants totaling about $620,000 have been awarded to agriculture programs using renewable energy sources.
The Advancing Colorado’s Renewable Energy program awarded 14 grants ranging from $16,600 to $100,000. The projects across the state include using agriculture waste to produce energy, biodiesel production and gauging wind resources at livestock operations.
A Jefferson County business, iCast, received a $100,000 grant for two biodiesel pilot projects. Colorado Corn Growers in Weld County was awarded $60,000 to help develop infrastructure for ethanol pumps.
The programs were among those receiving money for equipment, construction and land. Other grants will be used for research grants.
The program is administered by the Colorado Agricultural Value Added Development Board. The board, appointed by the governor and Legislature, promote agricultural products and projects.
