ASPEN, Colo.—Three men, including two from England, have pleaded guilty to violating the Colorado Skier Safety Act after being cited for skiing in a closed area at an Aspen ski area.
Twenty-three-year-old Charles Kashiwa of Denver, and 51-year-old Russell Francis and 21-year-old Adam Francis of Beaconsfield, England, entered their pleas Tuesday during separate hearings in a Pitkin County courtroom. Russell Francis is Adam Francis’ father.
Judge Erin Fernandez-Ely ordered each man to pay a $250 fine. They could have been fined up to $1,000 each.
The three were accused of skiing under a rope into a closed area at Aspen Highlands on Sunday.
They told the judge they saw no warning signs indicating that it was illegal to ski on the other side of the rope.
