Peanut butter linked to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened more than 430 people nationwide and may be linked to five deaths is being recalled in Colorado.

The peanut butter, made by the Peanut Corporation of America, is sold in bulk to the food-service industry under the “King Nut” and “Parnell’s Pride” labels and not sold directly to consumers at retail stores, state health officials said Wednesday.

However, later Wednesday, Kellogg Co., which uses Peanut Corp. peanut paste, did ask stores nationwide to pull peanut butter crackers sold under the Austin and Keeb ler brands.

Kellogg said it hasn’t found problems or received complaints about those products, but customers and stores are asked to hold on to the Kellogg products and not eat them until an investigation is complete.

Nine people in Colorado have reported getting ill from the peanut butter.
