GREELEY — Emergency crews flew two men to a Greeley hospital Wednesday after an oil-well explosion, authorities said. They were in fair condition at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, said Gene Haffner, hospital spokesman.

The oil-well workers were injured in the 7:30 a.m. blast west of Greeley, said Undersheriff Margie Martinez of the Weld County Sheriff’s Office. Greeley firefighters put out the blaze by building a dirt mound around a rig and enveloping the fire with foam, she said. Kirk Mitchell, The Denver Post
