A high-temperature record for Denver and other Colorado cities and towns could fall today as readings are predicted climb into the upper 60s and lower 70s.
The unseasonably warm weather, accompanied by winds up to 30 mph and low humidity, will increase fire danger along the Front Range and on the Eastern Plains today, the National Weather Service reports.
Denver’s record high temperature, for the date — Jan. 20 — was set in 2005 at 70 degrees. The forecast high for Denver today is 72 degrees.
Unseasonably warm weather is expected to stick around Denver through Thursday. But a cold front should hit the city Friday, bringing mostly cloudy skies, a 20 percent chance of snow and a forecast high temperature of 42 degrees.
