A 50-year-old man has been charged with sexually assaulting two 9-year-old girls, one of whom told investigators that the man — a friend of her mother and grandmother — had been molesting her since she was 4.
Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey today filed multiple charges of sexual assault on a child against Andres Hidalgo, who is currently being held in lieu of $200,000 bail at Denver County Jail.
The first of the two victims said she had been sleeping over at Hidalgo’s house and in his bed for years and was first molested when she was either four or five.
She said that the most recent incident occurred Jan. 2, when she alleged that Hidalgo raped her, according to an affidavit filed by Denver Detective Thomas Green.
She said that he had sexually assaulted her earlier when Hidalgo had a party at his house because a baby was being baptized.
According to the affidavit, Hidalgo got drunk at the baptismal party and was sleeping in his bed with the 9-year-old when he began to assault her.
She said that the 50-year-old man liked her to sleep in T-shirts and that she wasn’t wearing shorts.
She also said that the suspect took “sex pills” which he keeps in his desk with his clothes, according to Green’s affidavit.
The second 9-year-old said that she was raped by Hidalgo once.
She said that she was in bed with Hidalgo when the assault occurred. Hidalgo was on one side of the bed, the second child — the first victim — was in the middle and she was on the end.
She said that during the night, Hidalgo raped both girls.
Hidalgo is set to appear at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 2 for a preliminary hearing in Denver County Court.
