OMAHA, Neb.—Construction has begun on Omaha’s $128 million baseball stadium north of downtown that will be the new home of the College World Series.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday afternoon at the site.
The plans for the stadium include a completion date in April 2011—just two months before the College World Series that will be played there that year.
Besides the College World Series, officials who oversee the planned 24,000-seat stadium say a pro team in the independent American Association will play in the venue beginning in 2011.
